After Goa no-show,Advani shares dais with Narendra Modi

BJP patriarch calls Gujarat CM a successful,popular leader.

For the first time after Narendra Modi’s anointment as the chief of BJP’s campaign committee,party veteran L K Advani on Monday shared dais with the Gujarat Chief Minister at a ceremony in Junagadh,where party president Rajnath Singh was also present.

The three leaders were in attendance at the condolence meeting of former Union minister and party colleague Bhavna Chikhalia,who died of a heart attack on Friday.

While Advani and Rajnath landed in nearby Keshod town by a chartered flight and then drove to Junagadh,Modi arrived in a helicopter.

In his brief speech,Advani addressed Modi as a yashashvi (very successful) and lokapriya (popular) leader. He also recalled how the late Chikhalia made it a point to accompany him to Somnath during his visits to the temple town. Chikhalia was elected MP from Junagadh four times.

Modi also addressed Advani as adarniya (respected) while praising Chikhalia for always working to make the party organisation strong.

The three senior BJP leaders were at the meeting for more than 20 minutes.

A day after Modi’s appointment as BJP poll panel chief,Advani had quit all party posts but was persuaded to reconsider his decision by other party leaders.

After this,the Gujarat Chief Minister had met Advani at the latter’s residence in Delhi on June 18.
