A court in Khagaria,Bihar,on Tuesday sentenced 10 people to death and awarded life sentence to four for the Amausi carnage in which 16 people,mostly from OBC Koeri and Kurmi communities,were killed in October 2009 over a land dispute. The 14 were convicted last week.
Fourteen of the 28 accused were acquitted for want of evidence. The convicts included Bodhan Sada,an area commander of the outlawed CPI (Maoist). Others are: Bodhan Sada,O P Mahato,Sikander,Sajjan Sada,Tarini,Sushil,Ladoo,Sanatan,Harilal,Ghuran Sada,Dilo Sada,Dilip,Umesh Mahato and Ram Sada.
As many as 16 people were dragged out of their huts,tied and shot dead in the carnage.
