Ousted Indian Hockey Federation chief KPS Gill’s “talents” will be utilised when Delhi hosts the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Indian Olympic Association President Suresh Kalmadi said in New Delhi on Tuesday.
A day after suspending the IHF after IOA’s executive committee meeting, Kalmadi told reporters that Gill’s expertise would be used in the 2010 Games.
“KPS Gill was a renowned police officer and he has done a lot of work…but we had to take the decision (to suspend IHF) in the greater interest of Indian hockey.
“But his talents will be utilised in Commonwealth Games,” Kalmadi said.
Under pressure from the Government and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) after a sting operation caught IHF secretary K Jothikumaran allegedly taking bribe for selection of a player, IOA suspended the IHF and named a five member ad-hoc selection committee.
