Unable to procure aeroplanes for sending relief to the Andamans, the West Bengal government has now decided to take the sea route.

The consignment was expected to reach Port Blair by January 6, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said.

The CM said today during his discussions with Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee, he had requested for planes to airlift relief supplies. But since it was not possible for the Air Force to spare aeroplanes, the relief material would be sent by ship on Saturday.
