DEC 16: The World Bank has sanctioned a loan of Rs. 650 crore to Tamil Nadu for various healthcare development projects in the state, to be released in three months time, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary L K Tripathy told reporters here on Saturday.A team of World Bank officials will soon visit the state in this connection, he added.Tamil Nadu was performing well on the health sector, Tripathy said. The state had won the Population Foundation of India award for good performance in the sector. The award would be given by the Prime Minister next month, he informed.Citing the success of the health scheme "Varumun kappom" introduced by the state, he said Uttar Pradesh government was studying the scheme to be implemented in that state.
