Certainly the most-awaited film in recent times. The controversies attached to it must have something to do with the anxiety. Other reasons may be Zakir Hussain on screen, four music directors and a striking resemblance to the lives of you-know-who. The film, finally, premieres this Saturday night on Star Plus.
Plus Films8217; Saaz portrays the gamut of relationships between human beings and for the first time in her six films in 20 years, Sai Parajpaye has a woman protagonist earlier films include: Chashme Buddoor, Katha, Sparsh and Disha. Though Sai denies any link, there8217;s only one source to her story about the film industry: the Mangeshkar sisters.
This is the story of two singing sisters Mansi Aruna Irani and Bansi Shabana Azmi, who come to Mumbai after the death of their parents. After an initial struggle, Mansi finds her way into the film industry with music director Indraneel as her mentor. Mansi keeps Bansi8217;s talents under wraps and gets her married.
But soon Indraneel picks Bansi as his new protege and Mansi breaks off with him. The sisters now become bitter rivals. A young music director Hussain comes into Bansi8217;s life. But, both she and her daughter Kuhu fall in love with him.
Apart from some tremendous acting, another highlight that sets Saaz apart is that four music directors have composed it8217;s music 8212; Zakir Hussain, Bhupen Hazarika, Yeshwant Deo and Rajkamal.
