Ha first to be ejected
LYON, JUNE 13: Ha Seok-Ju became the first victim of Fifa8217;s new directive to eject anyone for a foul tackle from behind, ejected in the 30th minute of South Korea8217;s World Cup opener against Mexico today.
Ha8217;s sliding challenge on the sideline wiped out Ramon Ramirez and, after three yellow cards earlier in the match, Austrian referee Guenther Benko flashed the Korean mid-fielder a red card. The ejection came only two minutes after Ha had put Korea ahead 1-0 ahead. Fifa increased the penalty for the tackles from behind with the World Cup by instructing referees to send off any player who attempts such a challenge and commits a foul.
