Was Sourav Ganguly unfit or was he dropped from the Indian team that played against Australia in the third cricket ODI on Friday?

The BCCI and the team management came out with conflicting versions for the elegant left-hander’s omission from the team.

While BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said that Ganguly have been dropped from the team, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni explained that he was rested because of his hamstring injury.

“Sourav has a hamstring injury. He was eager to play, but we were not willing to risk a batsman getting injured during the game. Therefore we decided to rest him for this game as well. Hopefully, by the next match, he will be a hundred per cent fit,” Dhoni said in the post match conference.

Earlier, Shah had said that ‘in the team composition he was dropped today. The team management decided’.

Ganguly, who suffered a hamstring injury in the first match in Bangalore, has now been out-of-action for two matches.
