After giving a peek into the Marathi happenings to the NRI Marathis, the famous Diwali Anka is all ready to get launched in a new incarnation. Named Avartan ,it will now cater to its brethren beyond boundaries in an audio-video format.
8220;Our readers have always been reading and getting nostalgic about happenings back home.Now they would have something to watch and enjoy. Nostalgia will always be there, as any media can only connect and not take you to the place so strongly desired,8221; says Niranjan Joshi, director, Outreach Media Services OMS.
8220;The content is divided under 12 heads, making it a comprehensive learning and entertainment experience in a five-hour slot. Our target readers are not confined to any segment and we plan to cater to choices of elders, students and working class. So we have prepared a bouquet of programmes that could be enjoyed and utilised by one and all,8221; says Amit Abhyankar, director, OMS.
In response to the idea of the electronic magazine, president of Ann Arbor Maharashtra Mandal, USA, Swatee Kulkarni, says, 8220;We have a 40-member group and each appreciated the idea of audio-visual Diwali Anka. This gives us another reason to look forward to Diwali, where we would be able to see that traditional celebration of the festival.8221;
Among other things, the electronic magazine also includes a documentary on Anand Van, the work done by Baba Amte for leprosy patients. Apart from this the music segment includes performances by veterans like Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, Dewaki Pandit and Ravindra Sathe. And the programmes have been anchored by known names like Prashant Damle and Sharad Ponkshe.
The magazine is marked at 15 and will be available in 11 countries from the day of launch. 8220;We have priced it low to make it affordable even for the students. And we have a home delivery without any extra charge,8221; adds Abhyankar.
About the functioning, Joshi says that they have tie-ups with nearly 62 Maharashtra Mandals across the globe, who will help them in distribution of the magazine.
Talking about the future plans, Joshi says, 8220;Apart from value addition in every magazine, we may make it a four-DVD pack instead of two without much price hike. A noticeable change will be brought about after five editions to check what appeals our readers. We intend to bring some reality shows in the content as well. We will look forward to introduce same product in other regional languages for other NRIs from other states as well,8221; says Joshi.
The magazine is dedicated to NRI Marathis and will not be available in India.
