PUNE, December 27: Speech clinics are passe. The latest trend is taking care of the `voice’ of budding artistes – analysing the intensity, timbre and frequency. Offering this service are a group of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeons who claim to have set up a unique `Voice Clinic’ at Sanjeevan Hospital to provide just the right pitch to help singers, ventriloquists and actors to gain that extra mileage.
The team, headed by Dr Sachin Gandhi, worked round-the-clock for nearly a year, conducting experiments, examining patients and introducing therapeutic measures like laser surgery on the larynx, apart from inculcating a `voice hygiene culture’.
