Visitors explore science exhibition

The Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School organised a science exhibition on Saturday. Still and working models based on themes of global warming, health, fitness, organic farming, bio-control method, alternative sources of energy and nuclear reactor attracted many. Students also displayed different means of modern techniques showing tissue culture, dialysis and chemotherapy among others. They also checked blood pressure, blood sugar levels and body weight of the visitors. Dr Kirti Dua, Head of Veterinary Medicine Ethics and Jurisprudence and Dr Gosal, Head of department of Biotechnical Department, were the chief guests on the occasion. They appreciated the young brains and encouraged them.

Rangoli competition held
Guru Nanak Public School organised a rangoli competition for Class V students on Saturday. The students made beautiful patterns of rangoli with sawdust, mirrors, rice and pulses. Headmistress Pamela Lotey distributed prizes to the winners. Punreet Grewal got the first prize while Mandeep Kaur and Puran Singh stood second and third. Nirmat Kaur and Gurleen Kalsi were given consolation awards.

Mumbai attack victims remembered
Saraswati Modern School and NGO Raksha Jyoti Foundation paid tributes to the people who lost their lives in the Mumbai attack. The students participated in a candle march. Kamla Jain, founder of the school, and Ashwani Behal, national president of Raksha Jyoti Foundation, were also present. 8220;The public should boycott watching films and serials which encourage terrorism,8221; said Behal. Principal Nilambra Sharma said every one should unite in the fight against terrorism.

Seminar on management held
A seminar on Financial Management Marketing was conducted by BCM Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh Road, on Saturday. The resource person, Ajit Kumar Sharma, guided the students regarding the course, which will be introduced by the school in the next session.

School bags first prize in science Fair
Atam Public Senior Secondary School, Atam Nagar, has bagged the first position at the 37th State Level Science Exhibition held at Mastuana Sahib, district Sangrur, recently. A working model on the theme, 8216;Harnessing Energy8217;, was prepared by Gaurav Garg, Abhinav Angi and Ekjot Singh under the guidance of Vandana Sethi, Head of the Science Department. The model depicted as how kinetic and potential energy of the ocean can be tapped to generate electricity effectively.

Solo song competition held
Ram Lal Bhasin Public School in Phase I, Dugri, organised a solo song competition on Saturday. The winners of the competition were:

Headmistress Tarannum Fatma motivated the students to increasingly participate in such activities. Director of the school, S Verma, congratulated the students on their effort and gave prizes to all participants.
