PUNE, Feb 22: Shane Lacroix scored a fine brace to steer hosts St Vincent's `A' into the Super League phase in the under-13 division of the St Vincent's Inter-school Invitational hockey tournament in progress at their home grounds. Vincents defeated St. Josephs 3-0.All Saints High School, Kirkee, also made it to the final phase in the under-15 age group, after humbling SD Kataria by an identical margin.Vincent's `A' dominated right from the start of play. Three minutes into the game, they were awarded a penalty corner. Karan Pannu initiated the push which was neatly stopped by Shane Lacroix and striker Vishal Rajput sounded the boards with a first time cracking shot. After setting up the first goal, Shane Lacroix himself scored the team's second goal in the 22nd minute, again converted it off a penalty corner. In the dying minutes of play Shane completed his brace by knocking in a field goal.In a crucial tie of the under-15 age group, All Saints had it easy against S D Kataria. A 3-0 win put them ahead of Vincent's `B' in the context of points, thereby making them the leaders in pool B. The match witnessed yet another brace coming off the stick of Sharad Nair Soman. Sharada scored in the sixth and ninth minute of play while Vikas Pillay scored the third in the dying minutes of the match.Today's fixtures: U-15: Bishop vs St Joseph's; Alegaonkar vs St Patrick's.
