Captain Sourav Ganguly said today’s victory against Pakistan was a “big win” for the India as they finally ended the drought and registered its first ever victory on Pakistani soil.
He told a post-match press conference that such a victory had been round the corner for a while as the team had been consistently performing well for the last two years with the top order of the batting figuring among the top three of the world.
He said today’s plan in the crunch game was to keep the wickets and at the same time score at a pace to post a good total. “We could have posted over 320 had we gone all out but cautious batting helped us to make 293 which we believed was a big total on this wicket.”
He complimented the bowlers for restricting Pakistani batsmen and removing its top order within 15 overs to put pressure on the remaining batsmen.
