VADODARA, Aug 5: More than 500 industries from India and abroad are expected to take part in the 4th grand national-level exhibition of industrial and allied products and related services to be organised by the Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) from February 18 to 22, 1999.The Chamber president Prafull Gandhi and secretary Nilesh Shukla told reporters on Wednesday that the exhibition, to be organised in the Laxmi Vilas Palace compound, would be the first of its kind in Gujarat to be available on the Internet and could be accessed by nearly 20 crore users across the world.Aimed at giving exposure to small-scale entrepreneurs to exhibit their products on a larger platform and develop business, the event would be supported by industrial extension bureau of Gujarat Government, Small Industrial Development Bank of India, Baroda Information Technology Association and other organisations.Having already received booking of 263 stalls till date, the organisers expect four lakh visitors. The Chamber would be also approaching Indo-American, Indo-German and Indo-British Chambers of Commerce to get more entries for stalls.A wide gamut of industries dealing in engineering, machinery, rubber, plastic, electrical, computers, machines tools, pollution-control equipment, tourism services and office equipment would put up stalls.A food village will also be set up to serve delicacies in ambience depicting traditional art and culture of Gujarat.Minor details of industries which cannot display its products will be put up in form of a catalogue. A vendors development information centre will also be set up.Shukla said at a time when industrial development was taking place on a large scale in Gujarat, there was a need to set up a permanent exhibition ground like the Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. The ground, he said, should be preferably in Vadodara.
