Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav today accused Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani of creating fear psychosis in the country by using terrorism just to woo votes.
Addressing media persons here, Mulayam said Vajpayee and Advani’s alarm about the threat to the country’s internal security before the national festivals like the Republic Day and the Independence Day indicated that the Centre had failed to contain terrorism.
The SP leader said that the government’s inaction despite Pakistan’s constant support towards terrorist activities in the country indicated that Vajpayee, Advani and Gen Musharraf were behind terrorism. He criticised the tendency to blame foreign forces for every incident in the country.
Blasting the VHP and the Bajrang Dal for fanning communal passions in the country, the former Defence Minister said a conspiracy was being hatched to trigger communal clashes in the entire country after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s big win in the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Mulayam appealed to the Congress Party again to join hands to dislodge the NDA Government at the Centre and the BJP-BSP coalition government in the state.
Accusing Mayawati of indulging in large-scale corruption, Mulayam demanded an impartial inquiry into the misuse of government funds and machinery for Mayawati’s birthday celebrations. Mulayam said while a large number of people died in the cold wave Mayawati spent crores of rupees on birthday celebrations.
Ridiculing the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minsiter’s demand to produce evidence, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said ,‘‘I am ready to provide evidence but at the right time and to the appropriate investigating agency,’’ he said.
Mulayam Singh also announced that his party would contest four seats in the Vidhan Parishad elections on January 27 and support one candidate of Kalyan Singh’s Rashtriya Kranti Party. RKP sources said, the party may field controversial corporator Kusum Rai for the poll.
