A large percentage of female cadets at the elite US Air Force Academy said they had been victims of sexual misconduct, according to a preliminary report made public on Thursday. The draft report by the Pentagon’s inspector general found that of 579 female cadets surveyed, 109 said they were victims of at least one sexual assault.
The draft, first reported by NBC Nightly News and posted on the MSNBC website, also said 43 women indicated they had been victims of at least one rape or attempted rape at the academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
