In the face of death threats to former Pakistan Premier Benazir Bhutto from Islamic militants, US-trained guards with the latest electronic equipment are expected to provide her security when she returns home on October 18 from her self-imposed exile.
Her security adviser, Rehman Malik, said that he had asked the Pakistan government to provide Bhutto, the chief of Pakistan people’s Party (PPP), with security.
“We have demanded that the government give Benazir Bhutto security on par with that afforded to President Pervez Musharraf,” he said.
