The killing of two “Pakistani operatives” by Chhota Rajan’s hitmen in a courtroom at Etawah in UP on Wednesday links the underworld don yet again to Indian Intelligence.

Five members of Rajan’s hit squad stormed into the Sessions Court in Etawah and eliminated the two suspected ISI operatives who had been brought there for trial, sources said. The assassins were apprehended when their getaway vehicle overturned while negotiating a curve on the outskirts of Etawah city. The suspects are in the custody of local police.

The Rajan hitmen have been identified as Sushil Karkarnis, Datta Pandhare, Kalia Rajan, Eddu and Farid Kausa. Police in Mumbai said the five were among Rajan’s top hitmen. Kalia and Farid were among the highest-paid sharpshooters of Mumbai’s underworld.

Sources said Rajan’s men travelled to Etawah via New Delhi at the behest of an Indian Intelligence agency early this month. Their mission: to eliminate the two alleged ISI operatives, sources said.
