The second day after taking over as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati was back to her old ways.
Eight officers were shuffled around in the Secretariat, with Chairman and Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation P.L. Punia appointed Principal Secretary. He is considered close to her.
The Cabinet, which held its maiden meeting today presided over by her, decided that the new Chief Minister will prove her majority on the floor of the Vidhan Sabha on May 17.
The Assembly would meet for a week, starting May 13. Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari had asked Mayawati to prove her majority within three weeks of swearing-in.
