Consumer goods major, Unilever, shut its plant in southern Nepal following a threat from Maoists, officials said on Wednesday. The firm closed its plant indefinitely following fears of a rebel attack linked to the All Nepal Trade Union Federation, which is demanding higher wages.
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry urged the withdrawal of the Maoist threat since the closure would affect 1,500 workers.
