In a unique takeover, Unichem Laboratories Ltd has acquired an active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, from lenders. The asset — which defaulted in repayment of loan — has been bought from financial institutions, including ICICI, IFCI and SBI, under the Securitisation Act. The unit has been acquired for Rs 15 crore. Currently, Unichem has an API facility in Roha, Maharashtra, which will be further augmented with this acquisition.
