GUWAHATI Feb 2: The spectre of violence stalks Assam with the banned United Liberation Front of Assam leaving no stone unturned to prevent the ruling Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) from electionering.A senior state official informed that the Govt had already requested the Centre to send 609 additional para-military companies to maintain law and order. Issuing stern warning to the people to stay away from any political rally, the ULFA had turned to the AGP primarily to disrupt its campaigning. In almost all the Brahmaputra Valley constituencies, AGP workers faced physical intimidation from the ULFA. In the Nagaon seat, from where Assam Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta's wife Jayashree Goswami Mahanta was contesting, the ULFA had kidnapped four AGP workers on Saturday.
