VADODARA, May 19: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Tuesday suspended two employees on charges of dereliction of duty.

According to official sources, Dinesh Sheth, a junior clerk in administrative ward number 9 (I) Panigate and Vijayaben Kamalbai, a safai worker, in administrative ward number 3 (C) Gajrawadi were suspended.

According to sources, Sheth was given additional charge of food inspector, but later he started demanding full-fledged pay scales and benefits as given to food inspectors. When the civic body turned downed his demands, Sheth approached the Gujarat High Court. However, his petition was dismissed.

Following the judgement, Sheth stopped reporting for duty, when he should have reported for duty as a clerk.

The civic body also fined four safai workers of Rs 100 each for dereliction of duty.
