
PUNE, Nov 5: Two new telephone exchanges at Chinchwad and Akrudi were commissioned by Pune Telecom PT on Friday. With these exchanges, PT has provided for 12000 lines at Chinchwad and 8000 lines at Akrudi.
According to a release issued by PT, the Exchanges which were inaugurated at the hands of H Sundaresan, chief general manager, Maharashtra Telecom Circle, will have the latest state-of-the-art EWSD technology enabling them to offer all modern services like ISDN facility and Phone Plus services.
With the commissioning of these exchanges, 51,000 new lines have been added to PT8217;s capacity, said R K Agarwal, general manager Development, along with new exchanges at Mahrishi Karve Road, Kothrud and Kondhwa. PT plans to add 23,000 lines to its network this month by opening EWSD exchanges at Baner and Sanghvi. The Bhosari Main telephone exchange will take over the present area of Bhosari RSU and the new one at Akrudi will take over the present area presently being serviced by the Chinchwad telephone exchange.
