Mumbai, May 4: The Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) has decided to allot tournaments to Aurangabad and Solapur for the first time during its juniors circuit which is to be sponsored by Hero Honda Motors.

The Rs 2.75-lakh scholarship juniors circuit will have nine tournaments, including an year-end Masters at Pune. The Association is also to host the Rs 75,000 prize money AITA ranking juniors event at Pune from May 15-21, its secretary Bharat Oza announced at a press conference on Wednesday.

While Rs 35,000 by way of scholarships would be up for grabs in the Masters event, the other eight tournaments would offer Rs 30,000 worth of scholarships each, Oza said.

Schedule: May 15-21: Rs 75,000 AITA juniors at PYC, Pune. MSLTA Juniors circuit: Sept 11-16: MSLTA juniors at Aurangabad. Oct 2-7: MSLTA juniors at MSLTA, Mumbai. Oct 30-Nov 4: MSLTA juniors at Pune. Nov 13-18: MSLTA juniors at Solapur. Nov 27-Dec 2: MSLTA juniors at Nashik. Dec 4-Dec 9: MSLTA juniors at Nagpur. Dec 11-16: MSLTA juniors at Hill Side Gymkhana, Pune. Dec 18-23: MSLTA juniors at Kolhapur. Year-end: MSLTA juniors Masters at Pune.

Centre agrees to declare Punjab ‘severely flooded’, enhanced funds on the cards

The Centre on Thursday approved a proposal by the Punjab government to declare the state “severely flooded”, it has been learnt. This came on a day Union Ministers Jitendra Singh and Jitin Prasada visited flood-hit areas in Pathankot and Gurdaspur, and assessed the damage due to the floods.
