LUDHIANA, July 21: The Economic Offences Wing of police, have arrested Jiwan Kumar and Satnam Singh, employees of a finance company, SPG Green Gold Plantations Ltd. They have been remanded to police custody till July 22.

According to Dinkar Gupta, SSP, a case under Section 420/120-B IPC had been registered against the company on May 27 on the complaint of certain investments. The company officials had fled after collecting several lakhs of rupees. The investors, allured with high returns from agriculture and plantations were left high and dry.

Varinder Kumar, SP (HQ.) and incharge of the Economic Offences Wing, revealed that the company, headed by S. D. Sharma, had 108 branches all over the country. Sharma was already facing similar criminal cases in Faridabad and Chandigarh and was also arrested by the Chandigarh police.
