CHANDIGARH, Aug 4: The two-day training programme organised by the Bureau of Indian Standards BIS concluded here today. The programme focussed on the significance of the safety aspect in food industry. Speaking on the occasion, D.R. Kohli, Deputy Director General North, BIS, discussed the importance of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point HAPCC system which has been designed to identify and prevent microbes, pesticides and pathogens from affecting the food products.
The system, he said, emphasises prevention of problems at the production stage itself. He also said that adoption of this system will enhance our competence in the international market. The participants represented dairy, biscuits, rice and fruits and vegetable industries.
The programme was conducted by Shashi Sareen and D.D. Jha, Additional Directors, BIS, who have been trained by National Sanitation Foundation, USA, and Quality Assurance Services, Australia.
