JAIPUR, AUG 17: A jawan of the Border Security Force(BSF) went berserk and shot down two brothers in Rawalamandi village in Bikaner district, official sources said here today.
The Jawan, Jameel Iqbal, belonging to Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir was later taken into custody by the state police in the early hours yesterday, official sources said.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night when the jawan, on patrol, first shot down a villager, and later his brother with his SLR rifle.
The incident sent shock-waves in the neighbouring villages.
Markets remained closed in Rawalamandi, Khanuwali and 365 head villages yesterday in protest against the killing.
Reports from Bikaner said a BSF commandent, D N Arya, has reached the scene of the crime to conduct an inquiry into the incident.
