A partially decomposed body spotted on Dhaka glacier in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh could be that of army jawan Beli Ram, who may have died 36 years ago in an air crash.A team of trekkers from the Mountaineering and Allied Sports (MAS), Manali, that stumbled upon the body found documents with it identifying the person as Beli Ram, son of Hari Chand, Post Office Palanwala in tehsil Akhnoor of Jammu district. Most of the papers were recovered from the pocket of Beli Ram.Col H.S. Chauhan, Director of MAS, said the documents indicated Beli Ram had been recruited as a jawan in 1963 at Nainital. He has informed the Army authorities and they would be shortly working to retrieve the body. It seemed the soldier died in an air crash. ‘‘The wreckage of an aircraft has also been spotted nearby,’’ stated Chauhan.
