MAY 14: Archana Venkatraman and her sister Arthi Venkatraman of India have been seeded one and two respectively in the US $5,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Circuit event to be held on the hard courts of the Shivaji Park Gymkhana here from Monday.
The Bangalore-based Archana and Arthi, ranked 589 and 696 in the world, are followed in the seedings list by their compatriots Geeta Manohar (860), Radhika Tulpule (877), Switzerland’s Sabvina Corazza (897), Sheetal Gautam (899), Nikita Bharadwaj (925) and Nandini Perumal (943) – all from India – in that order.
There is one other foreigner in the direct entry list of 25 – Indian-origin American Rahda Devendrappa.
Matches will be held in the morning and in the evening under floodlights and the final is scheduled for May 20.
The top prize is worth US $650 in the singles and $325 in the doubles.
