NEW DELHI, December 2: Hundreds of present and former students of the Doon School (Dehra Dun) had converged on the picturesque Roshanara Club grounds here on Tuesday for a get-together to reminisce about the school.They were all there to bid farewell to Sheel Vohra, the longest-serving teacher of the Doon School, and one who dedicated himself to popularising cricket among students, both on and off the field.And joining some of the old students of the school, including Michael Dalvi (Delhi and Tamil Nadu Ranji cricketer of the 1960-70s) and Chanderchur Singh (of Maachis fame), were some legendary star cricketers like Kapil Dev and Bishan Bedi to honour Vohra who rose from the ranks of a mathematics teacher to retire as Headmaster. There were also Tom Alter, Surender Khanna, Atul Wassan, Mohammad Aslam Khan to add glamour to the occasion. Most of the old students were there at the grounds with their families to share the happy memories of old days.To mark the occasion, a festival match was played between the Doon School XI (led by Michael Dalvi) and the Rest XI (captained by Kapil Dev). Sheel Vohra, known as `Bond' among colleagues, served the school as a cricket coach for over 35 years.
