Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said Tamil Nadu should have a government which shares the principles and policies of the UPA government at the Centre.
Addressing an election rally here, he said: ‘‘The UPA government will ensure that all requirements of Tamil Nadu are fulfilled on all fronts to enable the people to lead a life of satisfaction’’.
Under UPA rule, the country’s economy was growing at eight per cent, he said adding, ‘‘we are aiming at a higher growth’’.
‘‘If this can happen in New Delhi, why not in Tamil Nadu? For this, you should have a government with a new vision, with stress on safety and secularism and concern for the common man. The Democratic Progressive Alliance under the leadership of M Karunanidhi will able to deliver this vision,’’ he said.
Singh told the gathering that the vision also envisaged that nobody slept hungry and everybody lived a life with a bright future and hope. ‘‘The DPA, if voted to power, will usher a government into Tamil Nadu which would not only place emphasis on human development but also in its prosperity and bright future,’’ he said.
