The Tamil Nadu Government will absorb Rs 30 from the hiked price of cooking gas, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi announced at the first-ever women’s conference of the DMK on Sunday. The resultant hike for LPG in the state, for families having single cylinder connection, would now be Rs 20. This announcement, benefitting as many as 50 lakh families across the state, would mean an additional burden of Rs 100 crore per annum on the state exchequer, said Karunanidhi, adding that the decision was taken after consulting departments and officials concerned.
Meanwhile, Karunanidhi also said that a high-level committee of the DMK would meet at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, on June 17 to discuss the continuance of PMK in the alliance.
