It8217;s almost a Jekyll and Hyde existence for External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee. While he plays the good pacifier of the Left through the week, he turns nasty and takes them head on over the weekend in home state West Bengal. The minister8217;s weekends are usually reserved for Congress programmes in Bengal which invariably involves criticising the ruling Left Front. This time it was more serious as it involved the arrest of Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Congress MP from Behrampur and a close follower of Mukherjee. Just after Chaudhary was released on bail by the Kolkata High Court on Friday in one case, the police arrested him in a decade-old murder case. On Saturday, Mukherjee was the main speaker at a party rally in Behrampur to protest against the Left8217;s 8220;witch-hunting8221; and 8220;misuse of police8221;. Surely, he will be back Monday morning to keep the 8220;secular government8221; running in Delhi with the support of the comrades!
