Three top Lashkar-e-Toiba militants from Pakistan and two police personnel were killed in a fierce encounter in Rajouri district this evening, official sources said here. Six others, including a police officer, were injured in the gunbattle which was still on in Thanamandi tehsil, they said.The encounter broke out during a search operation launched jointly by police and the Army this afternoon on specific information about the presence of a group of LeT militants in a forest hideout in Kakamorha-Dodasan, the sources told PTI.Militants hurled grenades and fired indiscriminately at them from the hill tops and the troops retaliated. Two policemen and three militants were killed and six injured in the gunbattle, they said.The injured were airlifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu, the sources said. Additional troops have been rushed to the area, they said.The recoveries so far from the spot include three AK rifles, eight magazines, two pistols, 17 grenades, 291 rounds, two IEDs, three detonators and one radio set.
