PUNE, April 26: An assistant police sub-inspector and two constables were allegedly assaulted by a truck driver and his two colleagues near Gunjan theatre chowk when the police sub-inspector asked the driver to park his vehicle at a distance as it was heavily emitting smoke.
The assistant sub-inspector Vasant Kuchekar of the crime detection branch was on duty near the Gunjan theatre chowk on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway yesterday afternoon when the truck owner Nabi Badesahab Shaikh (40), a resident of Laxmannagar Yerawada parked his truck nearby.
After seeing that the truck was heavily emitting smoke, Kuchekar asked Shaikh to park the vehicle at some distance. Shaikh entered into a brawl with Kuckhekar and abused him. At this point, Shaikh’s colleagues Hussain Shaikh and Nabilal Shaikh also joined him. When police constables Chavan and Bhise, who were nearby, tried to intervene, the trio allegedly abused them and grabbed their uniform. In the scuffle, Kuchekar received a blow on his face. The trio even threatened the police that they would be eliminated.
