The problem is there doesn8217;t seem to be a suitable time window for a series. At the moment it looks as though the tour could be as short as 18 days, which realistically means only a one-day series can be played

We will honour the ICC8217;s ten-year programme and make sure the tour goes off well. We understand their BCCI8217;s predicament and therefore we have agreed to play the Test series in 2006

The BCCI keeps moving the goalposts. They now want to extend our tour to December 7, whereas it would have ended on November 30 with the original itinerary. We can8217;t possibly agree to extend the tour that far because England arrive here on December 5, and the first Test is on December 17. Here we are, in June, and we still don8217;t have a set of itinerary for a tour to India in four month8217;s time. It8217;s just crazy.

There is an agreement among Test countries that itineraries are planned 12 months in advance. Contracts are supposed to be signed at least four months before a tour. If we cannot resolve this issue within the next few weeks we will take it up with the ICC
