On Dec 19, 1991, Dawood aide Chikna traced Ankush Satpute of the rival Tanya Kohli gang to his hideout at Kumbharwada near south Mumbai’s red light district. Chikna along with Akbar Ibrahim Shaikh, Sayyed Akhtar Mazhar, Shabbir Nabilala Jamadar, Salim Rehman Khan, Abdul Rauf Shaikh, Mohammed Anwar Shaikh, Sayyed Zahoor Mohiuddin Zahir Khan and Sherkhan kidnapped Satpute to interrogate him on Kohli’s whereabouts. Ten hours later, they killed and dumped his body at Dongri. Investigations — and recorded conversations — revealed Satpute was killed on orders from Dawood and Rajan, then on good terms. — (ENS)
