PUNE, March 3: 8220;I discussed watershed development programme, the deteriorating conditions of Indian villages and the environment with Congress President Sonia Gandhi,8221; village development expert Anna Hazare said today.
Responding to the doubts raised by Sena chief Bal Thackeray at his party8217;s recent convention in Nashik on the expenditure involved in the meeting Sonia Gandhi, Hazare stated that he was prepared for an open discussion with Maharashtra8217;s 8220;remote control ruler8221; about the doubts the latter has about his Hazare8217;s assets and wealth. He was in New Delhi, on his way to Rajasthan, and had fixed a meeting with the Congress party president. His to and fro air travel was sponsored by Uttari Rajasthan Milk Associate Limited who had invited him to be the chief guest for their annual convention, he clarified when Thackeray questioned as to where did he get the money for the air fare.
Hazare8217;s meeting with Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and her announcement to visit Hazare8217;s native Ralegan Siddhi had raised many an eyebrow. The Sena chief and even the Janata Dal leaders had questioned the propriety of Hazare8217;s meeting.
