A day before Defence Minister George Fernandes is to depose before the Venkataswami Commission, probing alleged corruption in defence deals in the wake of the tehelka.com expose, the Rajasthan Samata Party president Gopal Pacherwal identified the official residence of Defence Minister George Fernandes and the voice of Samata Party’s former national president, Jaya Jaitly, recorded in the Tehelka tapes, but denied having been told by her to keep Rs two lakh.

Pacherwal was appearing before the Venkataswami Commission of Inquiry, probing the Tehelka expose, for cross examination.

Tehelka.com, which carried out ‘Operation Westend’ to expose corruption in defence deals, had claimed that Pacherwal was allegedly told by Jaitly at Fernandes’ official residence to keep Rs two lakh, given to her by Tehelka reporter Samuel Mathew.
