Convenor of the pay-revision committee of the Punjab Federation of University Teachers’ Association (PFUTA) Satya P. Gautam and PFUTA convenor N.S. Mann said the interests of students were paramount to teachers. They asked the students and the public to support the teachers’ struggle to shorten the period of the "forced" strike. The statement said the teachers were forced to suspend work because of the "prolonged indifference and insensitivity" of the Union government.

nt towards their legitimate demands of grant of UGC pay scales and proper working conditions.
