SURAT, May 21: The South Gujarat University Area College Principals Association has requested teachers to hand over answer-scripts to moderators or chairmen of boards of examination and not jeopardise students8217; careers in their bid to get more assessment remuneration.

Association president and principal of Dharampur College V R Rawal while criticising the teachers8217; stand said if answer-scripts were not submitted in time, students will be the sufferer.

If they keep answer-scripts in their possession they will be delaying the announcement of result and become party to the crime, Rawal said, pointing out that the assessment remuneration was nothing compared to their total salary. He observed that only SGU students would suffer, while their counterparts would have no problems. Why did the teachers not seek increase in remuneration earlier, the association questioned, hinting that the agitation was targeted only against Vice-Chancellor Ashwin Kapadia.

The academic session of only the university was delayed after the anti-reservation stir of 1985 was called off, the association said, alleging that in 1985 also it was teachers opposition to the then vice-chancellor Mukund Trivedi that was responsible for the delay.
