HYDERABAD, FEB 21: The Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party (TDPP) will extend issue-based support to the Vajpayee Government during the ensuing budget session of Parliament.
The TDPP, which met at the residence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday, resolved to fight for the interests of the state during the session. TDPP leader K Yerran Naidu and 13 of the 21 MPs attended the meeting.
Though there would not be any qualitative change in the party’s relationship with the BJP-led government at the Centre, the TDP MPs would be playing a critical role in both Houses of Parliament when issues pertaining to the common man come up for discussion, a spokesman of TDPP told The Indian Express. Besides pressing the Centre to bear 50 per cent of the expenditure incurred on tackling the naxalite problem, the MPs would strive for securing sanction for several pending projects for the state.
