June 30: In an effort to beat the slump in the real estate market, Tata Housing has launched the city’s first `smart’ office complex which will provide the latest communication technology under one roof to companies working out of their premises.
Named Technopolis Knowledgepark with an area exceeding three lakh square feet, the project offers a three-tier information structure designed for service industries like airlines, banking and insurance, said a press release.
The first tier is Global Net, which acts as a gateway for the complex to the external world. High speed lines from the building complex connect basic telecom providers like VSNL and MTNL and other value-added service providers outside.
The next level Campus Net facilitates resource sharing within the complex through shared computing, database services and other value added services. Office Net will consist of internal computer and communication networks of individual offices.
For this, a host of communication and computer facilities will be installed at Technopolis Knowledgepark. Features include conduiting for power transmission, telephone lines and computer networks to facilitate flexibility in office design and high wattage per square feet for optimal performance of business machines. High speed data networks (100 Mbps) will allow shared computing, e-mail, databases and value-added services; structured cabling with pre-wired copper and fibre optic cables for voice services and high speed data services within the campus and quick inter-connectivity with the national telecommunications network. The complex will also offer support facilities like multipurpose conference area, an ATM facility, restaurant, medical centre, courier services, fitness centre, swimming pool and adequate car parking space.
