GURGAON, FEBRUARY 27: All it took was six minutes today, for Tamil Nadu to assert their supremacy over a weak Haryana side, defeating the hosts by an innings and 40 runs on the final day of their Ranji Trophy Group C Super League clash. Haryana, who never recovered from the shock of seeing seven wickets fall in the first session of play on Day One, went on to concede a 278-run first innings lead to the visitors yesterday, and were then reduced to 237 for nine in their second knock. There was little hope that tailenders Vineet Jain and Feroz Ghyas would hold out for too long against the experienced TN attack. Unfortunately for Haryana, this notion was proved right. Jain was neatly stumped by Reuben Paul off the first ball of Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan's second over of the day. Haryana added just one run to their tally before bringing an early end to proceedings. Tamil Nadu now have 16 points from two matches (with outright wins over Saurashtra and Haryana), while Haryana remain on three points won in a drawn tie against Uttar Pradesh. Haryana had lost their second match to Saurashtra. While Haryana now have time to chalk out some face-saving strategy before their next encounter against Orissa at Cuttack on March 14, the TN team leave for Chennai tonight. They will proceed from there to Cuttack to meet Orissa on March 4, before playing UP in their last superleague clash at Kanpur.
