PUNE, NOV 6: After confusion over dates of the senior National swimming championship, the Maharashtra Amateur Aquatic Association (MAAA) has finally decided on December 5 as the commencement of the meet.
The event, which concludes on December 10, will be held at the Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai, according to Prabhakar Gharat, secretary MAAA, in a telephonic conversation with The Indian Express.
The meet allotted to MAAA by the Swimming Federation of India (SFI) in their last general body meeting at Bangalore had run into rough weather after Pune backed out as hosts because of insufficient funds. Pune’s inability to host the event in the second week of November has caused the delay.
However, Gharat still refused to confirm that funds have been collected and added instead: “We have asked a private agency to do the needful.”
