KHARAR, June 8: A case of suspected acute flaccid paralysis suspected polio, has been detected in Roopnagar district.

The case involves a four-year old child, Geeta, daughter of a migrant labourer, who is living in the New Anaj Mandi in Roopnagar.

Giving this information, Roopnagar Civil Surgeon Dr Rajinder Singh, told ENS that he had instructed District Immunisation Officer, Dr A. K. Khullar to investigate the case thoroughly. Dr A. K. Khullar, when contacted, said that investigations were in progress to rule out polio myelites under the National Polio Action Surveillance. It has been reliably learnt that the child was administered the twin doses of polio under the Polio Eradication Campaign launched twice in the past.
