A day after the state CID arrested two Lashkar-e-Toiba agents — Muhammed Mushtaq and Hassan-ud-Zaman – from Murshidabad, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has requested their custody to crack down on the terror network in the Valley.

“The duo has revealed information regarding the terror network in Jammu and Kashmir and other places in India. The J-K police have requested their custody. The duo will be handed over soon after we finish interrogating them,” said Siddhinath Gupta, IG CID (Special Operations Group).

The CID has recovered details of anti-national activities, e-mail conversations and pictures of training camps in Pakistan from the laptop and pen drive that were seized from Mushtaq’s house. The arrested LeT agents were produced before the Jangipur SDJM court and were sent to 14-day police custody.

According to CID officials, the two provided shelter to terrorists who crossed over the border from Bangladesh and had visited Pakistan recently. “We have recovered pictures where the duo were seen training at Pakistani terror camps,” an official said.

“We have information that they have recruited a number of youths in the state and formed modules. Hassan played an active role in the indoctrination process. More people will soon be arrested,” said an SOG officer.
