Kakrapar tops in power production
The Kakrapar Atomic Power Station located in Vyara taluka of the district has generated the maximum electricity among all power stations in the country during 1998-99, an official release issued here on Tuesday said. 2874 mega-units of electricity were produced during the year against the target of 2640 mega-units, marking a rise of seven percent in electricity production, station director S Jairam said. Other atomic power stations run by the National Power Corporation are at Kota Rajasthan, Narora UP, Kalpakkam TN and Tarapore Maharashtra.

People alerted
A district collectorate release issued on Tuesday has alerted people not to invest money in a small savings agency run by one Jaykumar C Marfatia. The release said that as a police complaint has been filed against Marfatia, his agency8217;s permission stands suspended pending inquiry.

Voters8217; list
All prospective voters who have completed 18 years of age on or before April 1, 1999 may get themselves enrolled in the voters list before May 20, an official statement said. It added that persons wishing to make changes in the particulars of his/her name may also do so before the above said date. Application forms are available in SMC ward offices in the city and at mamlatdar and gram panchayat offices in the rural areas.
