Panaji, April 5: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC, banning assembly of five or more persons and carrying of firearms, was clamped in Goa today following incidents of violence yesterday that resulted in injuries to several persons, including policemen.

Police opened fire at three places and resorted to lathicharge to disperse agitationists of the Anti-Meta Strips Citizens Action Committee (AMCAC) who damaged government property and buses in south Goa, police said here today.

While seven persons were injured, one of them in firing, some police personnel were hurt in the violent incidents, police said adding, the situation today was under control.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure reinforcement has been sought from Karnataka and two companies, including one of CISF have arrived, Director General of Police, Karnail Singh said.

AMCAC is demanding scrapping `Sancoale’, a south Goa-based meta strips factory.
